He was the earliest top player in Jilin province and a high-profile figure who dominated the Chinese billiards scene in the 1990s. He is also recognized as one of the '75 Three Talents' in Chinese eight-ball. He turned professional in 1994 and is known for his excellent mentality and steady playing style.
