9. Chinese Nine-Ball “Turning Stone into Gold” Competition Rules:
1. Players’ responsibilities:
It is the players' responsibility to understand all rules, regulations and schedules related to the game. Tournament officials try to convey relevant information to players accurately and in a timely manner, but it is still the players' responsibility in the end.
2. Competition method:
The game uses the cue ball and object balls 1 to 9. Players hit the object balls on the table in order of numbers from small to large. When the 9th ball is legally pocketed, the player wins the game.
3. Ball placement:
Target balls 1-9 are arranged in a diamond shape, with ball 1 at the front of the pile and placed on the ball placement spot, ball 9 in the middle, and other balls can be placed randomly, but all balls must be close to each other; placing the balls is the referee's responsibility, and players cannot place the balls on their own unless the tournament organizing committee has made clear requests.
4. Legal kick-off:
A legal kick-off must meet the following requirements:
4.1 The cue ball is in hand and is placed behind the scrimmage line;
4.2 The first ball hit by the cue ball is ball 1;
4.3 If the kick-off does not result in a goal;
4.31 At least three object balls must be pocketed or touch the tee line;
4.32 If one object ball is pocketed, at least two object balls must touch the scrimmage line.
4.33 If two object balls are pocketed, at least one object ball must touch the tee line.
4.34 If the three balls do not cross the line, it is considered a foul. The next player can choose to continue to play the free ball according to the table conditions. Or return the right to play to the opponent, or let the opponent play again.
4.35 If the 9 ball is pocketed after a foul on the opening shot, the 9 ball shall be immediately removed and replaced on the spot, and play shall then continue.
5. Continue hitting:
If a player pots a ball after a legal tee shot, he stays on the table and continues to play the next shot. If he pots the 9 ball legally in any shot, he wins the game, including potting the 9 ball directly from the tee shot. If a player does not pot any ball legally, his opponent starts from where the cue ball came to rest. If a player commits a foul, his opponent starts from the ball in his hand (including fouls committed during the tee shot)
6. Scoring categories:
6.1 If the ball is legally pocketed and the table is cleared, it is a "big gold" and the score is 10 points.
6.2 If the ball is not scored and no foul is committed, the score is 7 points.
6.21 Ball No. 9 goes into pocket at tee time, which is a small gold
6.22 In the middle of the game, the ball No. 9 was hit and passed in, which belongs to Xiao Jin
6.3 Other single-game wins are considered “general wins” and are worth 4 points.
6.4 If a foul occurs, the opponent will be awarded 1 point.
7. Stone-pointing tycoon:
When the batting team scores a goal after the opening shot, and predicts that they can clear the table with one shot, they can signal the referee to turn on the "Turning Stone into Gold" mode. Both Big Gold and Small Gold can declare "Turning Stone into Gold". If "Turning Stone into Gold" is successful, double points will be awarded (i.e. 20 points for Big Gold and 14 points for Small Gold). If "Turning Stone into Gold" fails and the table is not cleared, extra points will be given to the opponent (10 points for Big Gold and 7 points for Small Gold), and the game ends.
8. Fouls:
If a player commits a foul, his opponent will take over the shot and have the ball in hand. The player on court can place the cue ball anywhere on the playing surface to start the shot.
The following are common fouls during the game:
8.1 The cue ball is pocketed or leaves the table;
8.2 The cue ball touches the illegal ball first;
8.3 After legal contact, the player does not touch the side of the pool;
8.4 The player’s feet leave the ground at the same time when hitting the ball;
8.5 The ball leaves the table;
8.6 Contact with the ball;
8.7 Combo/stick ball;
8.8 Putting;
8.9 Hitting a ball when it is not completely at rest on the table;
8.10 Placing the cue on the table;
8.11 Violation of the attacking order;
8.12 Hitting the ball too slowly.
9. Three consecutive fouls will result in a loss:
If a player commits a foul directly during three consecutive strokes, i.e. three consecutive fouls, the penalty is that the player loses the game. However, the referee must warn the player if he has committed two consecutive fouls, otherwise the third foul that may occur will be regarded as the second foul.
10. Reset the ball:
If the 9 ball is potted or knocked off the table due to a foul or a putt, the 9 ball needs to be reset to the spot. Any other object balls that are potted or off the table will not be reset under any circumstances.
11. Deadlock:
If the referee thinks a stalemate may occur, he should suggest that the players start again. But if a player refuses, the referee will allow the game to continue for a while. Generally speaking, the referee will let both sides play three more shots. If the stalemate is still not resolved, the referee will declare a stalemate and restart the game with the ball. The original order of hitting the ball will not change.
12. Winning:
12.1 If a player pockets the 9-ball without committing a foul or the opponent commits three consecutive fouls, he or she wins the game. 12.2 If a player commits a foul when pocketing the 9-ball, the 9-ball must be taken out and reset to the ball placement spot, and the opponent is given the right to hit the ball freely. This process cannot be omitted.
